It's no way to avoid a parking ticket.

Police in West Vancouver, B.C. have pressed multiple charges against a man who butted out his lit cigarette into a bylaw officer's eye.

Cpl. Fred Harding says motorist Jozef Baksay got angry over a parking infraction and took a lit cigarette and jammed it into the right eye of the bylaw enforcement officer who was writing him a ticket.

The force was strong enough to extinguish the cigarette.

Harding says the officer was able to close his eye before the cigarette hit him, avoiding serious injury.

Baksay, 55, is charged with assault with a weapon and assault of a peace officer.
