Emergency crews were called Wednesday to deal with a massive fire that engulfed a Quattro condominium development in Whalley, B.C., at 138th Street and 107-A Avenue.
CTV has learned that the three alarm fire knocked out power to 4,400 customers in the neighbourhood.
The first building under construction was destroyed, raising fears that a nearby crane could topple as a result of the heat.
The building across the street, also under construction, also caught fire.
No injuries were reported but the ambulance service had paramedics on the scene as a precaution.
When buyers were lining up to purchase units in the project in May, Quattro billed itself as Surrey's largest ever commercial and residential project. The $625 million project was designed to revitalize the Whalley area.
The six-phase development, is located on four hectares at 108th Avenue in East Whalley.

B.C. Hydro spokesman Dag Sharman said the power interruption was for safety reasons. "As soon as it's safe, it will be restored,'' he said. The outage impacted an area bordered by the Fraser River, 104th Ave, and 130th to 154th Street.
