Police have laid charges against four people, including two girls, in connection with the death of 14- year-old boy whose body was found near an abandoned house in Surrey, B.C. in February

The body of Justin Vasey was found dead on a sidewalk on 104th Avenue near 140th Street on February 25, said Surrey RCMP. He died as a result of stab wounds.

Vasey was partying with people he thought were his friends, said Cpl. Dale Carr of the B.C. Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide and Investigation Team (IHIT).

Two girls aged 15 and 16, and a boy who was 17 at the time of Vasey's death, have each been charged with second degree murder. Twenty year old Cody Pelletier has been charged with manslaughter.

All of the four people charged made their first appearance in the provincial court in Surrey, Monday.

The adult, Pelletier, was well known to police. Over the past two years Pelletier has been charged in Surrey, Burnaby and Vancouver.

He has been charged with robbery, possession of a prohibited weapon, criminal harrassment, assault, uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm, escape from lawful custody and obstructing a peace officer.

On the night of the murder, Pelletier was found unconscious and was rushed to hospital.

Cpl. Dale Carr of the B.C. Lower Mainland's Integrated Homicide and Investigation Team (IHIT) said Vasey was partying with people who he thought were his friends.

IHIT issued a statment Monday saying that at the time of the murder, there had been speculation in the community that Justin's death was associated with bullying at the school he attended.

Investigators have completely ruled out bullying as a factor in the murder, the IHIT statement said.

All of the four people charged were expected to make their first appearance in  provincial court in Surrey, Monday.
