Sage Vincent is eight years old and has lived in the Downtown Eastside his whole life. “I like living here because lots of people are really nice,” says Sage, a member of the Jacksonville Housing Co-op. He took this photo of his 11-year-old brother, Kale, in their family home. Sage and his brother like to play with Lego and build forts. On weekends, Sage attends free art classes at Oppenheimer Park. “I go to art class but I don’t learn the pictures that I draw there,” Sage explains. “I like to draw make believe cities and people, creatures and different kinds of houses.” Sage has four siblings. His older sister, Marlaina, is also a contest winner.
